I'm sure you have heard about this newly-formed group called Shen Mu Yu Tong 神木与瞳/Y2J by now.
For those who have not, the male vocalist/guitarist Lai Ming Wei 赖铭伟 and the lead female vocalist Huang Mei Zhen 黄美珍 are both famous from the Taiwanese variety show competition 超级星光大道2.
Lai Ming Wei 赖铭伟 is the champion for 超级星光大道2 while Huang Mei Zhen 黄美珍 won the most popular contestant for it.
Before and during the competition, both of them were singing in a pub, at times as partners.
There has been continuous rumours whether they are a couple or not and I think that generated enough interest for the singing recording company to make this opportunity for both to be in a group.
Both of them are interested in heavy metal and rock and hence, there is no surprise that their debut album is a rock album.

The group is touted as Taiwan’s only rock band with both male and female lead vocalists/台湾唯一一个双主唱摇滚男女组合 and I don't deny that their album is terrific.

The album name 神木与瞳 comes from a combination of nicknames of the two.
Lai Ming Wei's 赖铭伟 nickname Yuming means shen mu/神木 in his native language while Huang Mei Zhen's 黄美珍 nickname in her native language is tong/瞳 and hence the band's unique name, Shen Mu Yu Tong (神木与瞳).

The opening track 为你而活, is an excellent rock song which really demonstrates that rock can be done in Chinese with powerful vocals and good rhythm.
This song is definately popular for KTV lovers.

The 3rd track 爱在末日前, is a slower song. Of course, the song showcased great vocals once again.

The 7th track 草戒指 demostrates a question and answer singing style which I find it damn nice.. Suited for 'couples' to sing too.

The 8th track 终结, is another rock song that you don't wanna miss! The melody of the song is done perfectly to blend in their rock-singing style.

The 10th track 不放 lyrics is meaningful and it's easy to remember. Another KTV song to learn if your feeling emo!

Overall, This album is certainly worth buying/listening. Once again, I'm looking forward to their future album with more, nice, rock and powerful vocals!
